Djibouti plans to update its law on cybersecurity to better match its vision of making ICT a mainstay of the country’s economic growth, Ecofin reported.
The government wants a number of instruments to strengthen the protection of IT systems and people’s personal data. A plan for the process was established on 29 August at a meeting initiated by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Interior Minister Moumin Ahmed Cheick said that cybersecurity is an issue of national sovereignty since it protects the state’s information systems.
The government wants to make the small nation a continental telecommunications hub and is aware that any negligence whatsoever could ruin all its strategic investments.
