Mogadishu (Somaliland.com) – The first oxygen-producing factory has started operations in Mogadishu this week.

The systems generate oxygen and nitrogen high quality and, purity making it perfect for both medical as well as industrial applications.

Senior engineers oversee the cryogenic distillation technique. The oxygen gas plant is put through stringent testing before they are cleared for sale to the customers.

OXYSOM is the first Oxygen plant Manufacturing in Mogadishu. Oxygen plants are highly needed in the Somali Capital a city that has experienced attacks from the Somali militant group Al Shabab.

First Aiders usually use Oxygen to stabilize those injured in attacks, in a bid save their lives before taking them to hospital. Without oxygen gas, humans, animals, and other living beings will not be able to survive.

The manager of the first locally manufacturing oxygen cylinders company says they were encouraged by the demand for oxygen in Somalia, and the absence of locally oxygen plants operating in Mogadishu.

‘This oxygen plant was established to reduce the over-dependence on the importation of oxygen cylinders. We founded this plant to cut down what we import and invent technologies that are highly needed by our people’.
