Somalia Is Most Corrupt Country In The World: Tranparency Int. Report

Somalia is the most corrupt country in the world according to Transparency International, World movement against corruption.
Somalia scored lowest in the global corruption pereceptions index report of 2018 released by Transparency International, on 29th Jan, 2019.


The report reveals that the continued failure of most countries to significantly control corruption is contributing to a crisis of democracy around the world. East African entirely falls below the global average.
The 2018 corruption perceptions index draws on 13 surveys and expert assessments to measure public sector corruption in 180 countries and territories, giving each a score from zero to 100 .In this parameter, Somalia received 10 out of hundred, ranking her the lowest in the total 180 countries and territories surveyed. Somalia has been the most corrupt country for last two years. Regionally, Sub-Saharan Africa fared the worst in this ranking with an average of 32 out 100 for all countries. Western Europe and the European union in contrast has double the sub-saharan average with a 66 out 100 score for these countries since 2017.
Overall, the top countries are Denmark and New Zealand with scores of 88 and 87, respectively.

Uganda scored 26/100 =149,

Kenya 27/100 = 144,

Tanzania 36/100 =99,

Ethiopia 34/100 = 114,

Djibouti 31/100=124

Eritrea 24/100 = 157

Trump’s America lost four points and dropped out of the top 20 least corrupt nations for the first time since 2011, while Hungary’s politics has taken on more autocratic overtones, according to the researchers.

‘A four point drop in the CPI score is a red flag and comes at a time when the US is experiencing threats to its system of checks and balance, as well as an erosion of ethical norms at the highest levels of power,’ the Berlin-based organization said.
