The Government of Somalia has announced that international flights in and out of Somalia will resume on 3rd August.
International flights in and out of the country was suspended in April due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, Somalia Federal Government has officially announced that it is set to resume international flights in and out of Somalia on 3rd August after a hiatus of three months to curtail the spread of COVID-19.
The Minister for Transport and Aviation, Mohamed Abdullahi Salad, confirmed the decision saying international flights that had been suspended in mid-April will now resume on 3rd August with strict health regulations.
This recent move is coming after the government reopened domestic flights last month. Schools and universities are also set to reopen on 15 August, after a 5-month-closure used to control the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Except for cargo and humanitarian flights, Somalia suspended all flights in March as part of the nation’s effort to slow the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
The Horn of Africa nation has so far confirmed more than 3,000 COVID-19 cases, 1,562 recoveries, and 93 deaths as of Saturday, 1 August 2020.
