Cremation of Uknown Bodies in Somaliland

Tonight, Military vehicles and a big truck full of firewood escorting an ambulance arrived at 10 PM in Xeedho, north of Hargeisa. They also were carrying a big frying pan of around 2.5 meters long; the soldiers estimated to be 30 by onlookers of the village said the soldiers discussed with foreigners with white skin a money of 30, 000 US to carry out the cremation of the dead for the foreigners. After deal done, the soldiers began to throw the firewood on the pan and set fire on it. Unknown number of human corpses were haphazardly burned and partially buried in the sand.

The group drove back to Hargeisa.

The residents realized something wrong was going in their stream which supplies water to them and Hargeisa residents. They rushed to the area to prevent the supposedly corvid-19 patients from burial in their vicinity but soldiers aimed their guns to scare. They called the Ministry of Health Development.

This the first cremation, a ritual to belong to some India’s religions occurred in Somali soil. The residents fear the dead might had affected by coronavirus while others said they Hindus or Sikhs who cremated under the supervision of Somaliland army.

So far the government didn’t deny or confirm of how the tragedy began in the first place.

The cremation and the burial happened in the middle of the water stream which supplies water to Hargeisa and worst of it is that it is a rainy season.  

the villagers said this horrifying story didn’t catch the attention of the municipality or the government as whole.
