Hassan Guure A Prominent Statesman Passed Away

On Saturday, May 16, 2020—Hargeisa— Muj. Hassan Guure Jama had passed away last night of acute illness in the capital Hargeisa. He was sick for only three days. e

Mr. Guure was great a veteran, guerilla fighter of SNM. He played a key in reconciliation process in both early years of pre-Somaliland’s war of liberation as well as postwar Somaliland reconstruction.

He also was the familiar face of Madasha Forum, articulate and skilled orator. However, he will remembered with his patriotism and unifying image and his hatred of clannish associations often disguised as like-minded people fora.

In 1987, before joining Somali National Movement and a member of the central, executive Committee, he was a businessman living in the Arab Gulf. He served a minister under Egal’s Admin.

More recently, he championed for bridging the gap among three political parties; his funeral will be in Toon, south of Hargeisa for his lasting peace. Allah Yarxama, RIP, amen.
