No Coronavirus Case in Somaliland – President Bihi

SOMALILAND.COM – The president of Somaliland Muse Bihi Abdi yesterday declared that the nation is free of coronavirus outbreak amid global widespread fears. 

In a  rare address to the nation, press Bihi announced that despite rigorous testing, the government is yet to encounter infection cases. 

He disclosed that on Sunday, health teams at major entry points across the country carried out over one thousand tests which all proved negative. 

 President Bihi added that the ministry of health is yet to record suspected domestic cases of virus infection. 

The president further announced that a recently appointed task force will issue daily updates on the pandemic situation. 

However, president Bihi announced a state of high alert in the country over the global pandemic. This he said is because the outbreak is getting closer to home with neighboring Ethiopia recording cases of the infection.

On the other hand, the president called on imams and religious leaders to help to raise public awareness over the coronavirus. He urged them to stop propagating false narratives over the nature of the virus.

Finally, The president called citizens to stay alert and take precautions against the spread of the virus including limiting large congregations.
