SOMALILAND.COM – Somaliland’s president Muse Bihi Abdi today inspected Hargeisa International Airport in the wake of CoronaVirus outbreak fears.
The president urged the management of the airport to take preparation for the worst-case scenario. He suggested the management to build a quarantine inside the airport.
President Bihi said the airport has the space to accommodate a quarantine and that the funds will soon come in. However, he ordered the management to immediately start work on this regard.
The president’s order to build a quarantine comes while Somaliland has not recorded any cases of suspected coronavirus infection. Although some neighboring countries such as Kenya and Ethiopia have spotted such cases, Somaliland did not.
The president was accompanied by the Commander of the Immigration Department and the Minister of Health.
Earlier this week, Somaliland’s government has deployed the medical team at Hargeisa Airport – the only functioning international airport in the country.
