The Newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia, Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, has officially assumed office from the former Acting Foreign Minister and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ali Mohamed Omar, during a ceremony held at the Foreign Ministry building in Mogadishu.
Representatives from the House of People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia and the Office of the Auditor General of the Federal Republic of Somalia attended the takeover event and most of them congratulted him for his new role.
During the ceremony, Minister Fiqi stressed his dedication to serving Somalia and advancing the nation’s foreign policy goals. He vowed to prioritize the country’s interests, taking a strategic approach to international relations that aligns with Somalia’s objectives.
His appointment came at a time Somalia has a diplomatic tension with Ethiopia over its deal with Somaliland in which Somalia strongly opposed it and called on the international community to invalidate it.
