According to reports, Al Shabaab rebel group in Somalia has executed a man suspected of sorcery in Jilib town of Middle Jubba. The group has also killed several people accused of being spies and working with government institutions in times past.
The execution was carried out following pronouncement from a court run by A court the militant group in the Middle Juba region which remains under the tight grip of the militant group.
The man identified as Ahmed Kusane Hassan was killed by the militants for allegedly bewitching a couple.
Alshabab has killed several people in the past for crimes related to spies and adultery. The group has been fighting against the federal government for more than a decade to establish an Islamic state of their own in Somalia and the region at large.
The group has lost major strategic locations, including Mogadishu; the capital city of Somalia; but this does not mean the group is completely out of the country. It carries out assassinations and sometimes attacks AMISOM and Somalia National army bases.
