Kenya’s Registered Jet carrying humanitarian aid to Somalia had narrowly escaped shooting down by unknown gunmen. The bullets hit the plane left visible marks on the surface of the plane but it landed safely in Bay Region of Somalia.
The accusing fingers point to the accident was behind by Al-Shabab, others to Ethiopia following the recent downing of another Kenyan plane by Ethiopia forces in Somalia’s soil.
Somalia has increasingly dangerous place for land and sea travelers since Barre’s flight out of power. The airspace has been quite reliably safe for air passengers as the fighters on the ground had no air capability to harm the sky. That is no longer true.
Another a memorable incident was when suicide bomber stepped into Daallo Airline and tried to blow himself up but it cost his life alone bursting out of the plane hitting the ground in flames. The airline passengers was saved by brave Serbian pilot despite the strong wind blowing into jet’s cracks.
