Hargaysa-24, October, 2018. Tribal war between the Dhulbahantes in Dhumay village has intensified, with close to 70 people losing their lives. The fighting has already resulted in the death of 60 people with 80 others injured. Bloodshed of such a magnitude has never been experienced in Somaliland before, a country that ceased from Somali in 1991.
Sultans from neighboring tribes say they are unable to intervene as deadly gunfire continues to be heard. The government of Somaliland has called on the warring groups to end the fighting, but their calls have fallen on deaf ears as the hostility continues. Neighboring Puntland is also yet to intervene.
Ministers from Somaliland said they will deal with the group with an iron fist. Such a hostility had happened in Ceel-Afwayn, and the government, imams, conflict resolution experts intervened to stop it, and critics want the same done in this case.
The war displaced many families near the battleground.
