Former Nigerian President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo leading a delegation from the Brent Hurst Foundation visited Hargeisa and have met the president and other officials, today May 5.
The delegation is touring African and Asian countries and launching new books called “Making Africa Work” and “Democracy Works”.
The new books of “Making Africa Works” and “Democracy Works” which are published by the Brent Hurst Foundation (BHF) and co-authored by Olusegun Obasanjo, Greg Mills, and Jeffrey Herbst.
The delegation was welcomed in Egal International Airport by the minister of Interior and Security Affairs and the Director General of the Presidency Mohamed Ali Bile and other high level officials.
The President of the Republic of Somaliland HE Muse Bihi Abdi received the delegation in his office and welcomed them to Somaliland.
President Bihi briefed them about the history of Somaliland, the successful state-building and how Somaliland achieved multiparty democracy.
The delegation also met with speaker of the House of Representatives mr Bashe Mohamed Farah at the parliament house and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Mr Adan Haji Ali at the Supreme Court.
Mr Olusegun Obasanjo and his Co-authors distributed samples of their newly published books.
In this week, Nigerian former president participated the conference in China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and also toured Malaysia and Vietnam with the former Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn and a group of senior researchers from Africa in Hanoi on May 2,
Chief Obasanjo is the second former African Head of State to pay a visit to the Republic of Somaliland, after the Zambian Ex-president Mr Kenneth Kaunda, 14 years ago, in May 2005.
