The ambassador’s visit to Hargeisa was marked by comprehensive discussions with Somaliland officials, primarily focusing on critical areas of mutual interest.
During his meeting with President Bihi, Ambassador Nithavrianakis delved into extensive talks covering various crucial topics, including the upcoming elections and the bilateral interests shared between the United Kingdom and Somaliland. The discussions also spotlighted the pressing security concerns in Lasanod, which has been marred by an eight-month-long conflict. The ambassador affirmed that the discussions emphasized the urgent need for resolution in Lasanod.
Expressing his appreciation for the steps taken in the electoral process, Ambassador Nithavrianakis called for restraint and dialogue concerning the persisting Las Anod conflict. Both sides were urged to approach the situation with a willingness to engage in peaceful dialogue, fostering an atmosphere conducive to resolution.
In a parallel development, Abdirahman Irro, the Presidential candidate of the Waddani Party, engaged in a substantive discussion with the UK diplomat. Their conversation centered on the prevailing political and security landscapes in Somaliland.
