The Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu has congratulated his counterpart from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Felix Tshisekedi on his re-election for another term after a keenly contested race.
President Tinubu, in a statement by his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, commends the government and the people of DR Congo for ensuring a successful conduct of the last elections.
The Nigerian leader also commended the people of DR Congo for deepening democratic norms by exercising their rights without resorting to acts inimical to the sustenance of democracy.
Tinubu pointed out that President Felix Tshisekedi has demonstrated statesmanship in his handling of regional and continental matters.
He added that Africa will overcome any challenge with governance by popular consent, and democracy will thrive.
Mr Tinubu wishes President Tshisekedi, who was re-elected for a second term after receiving more than 73% of the vote in a December 20 election, a successful term in office.
