

In the 41st Extraordinary Session of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Assembly of Heads of State and Government on the Sudan, held in Djibouti, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed renewed Ethiopia’s unwavering commitment to facilitating a peaceful resolution to the prolonged conflict in neighboring Sudan.
Expressing gratitude to President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh for hosting the summit, PM Abiy conveyed his appreciation via a social media post, stating, “Ethiopia remains committed to supporting a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Sudan.”
Ethiopia, as an integral part of IGAD, has actively played a supportive role in initiatives aimed at fostering peace and stability in Sudan, where a protracted conflict has persisted for several months.
Having concluded their participation in the 41st Extraordinary Session, the Prime Minister and his delegation returned to Addis Ababa early this evening.
The summit marks a continued regional effort to address the complex challenges facing Sudan and underscores Ethiopia’s steadfast commitment to contributing to lasting peace in the region
