Somalia’s president Abdilahi Farmaajo nominated a new prime minister yesterday morning in Mogadishu.
The new prime minister; Mohamed Hussein Roble was nominated after a month of intense search for a competent and marketable person for Somalia’s heavily polarised politics.
Mr Roble, the premier-designate, briefly spoke to the press following his unexpected nomination. He spoke less than a minute and asked for the vote of confidence from the Somalia’s legislative body so that he could fulfill the constitutional duties brought upon him by the mere nomination of such great leadership position.
‘Salaam to all of you. I am so excited to let you know that I responsibly, and with dignity, accept the trust in me shown by the president of Somalia for thinking that I can do the job diligently. As a result, I plead for a vote of confidence from Somalia’s Parliament. I have high expectation in them to swiftly endorse me to enable me take on the job.’
Meanwhile, the prime minister nominee has commenced meetings with the Speaker of Parliament and its members to discuss the 2020-2021 elections.
