At least ten al-Shabab fighters have been killed and several others wounded following clashes with Somali forces backed by the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) troops in the southwest of the country.
Speaking to the state owned media, a SNA military commander in Diinsoor town of Bay region said the allied forces foiled an attack on a base manned by Ethiopian forces under ATMIS.
According to the officials, three SNA soldiers sustained injuries during the fighting. Al-Shabaab has been fighting Somali government forces along with the Amisom troops for the past decade.
The group which once controlled much of southern Somalia including the capital was defeated and lost control of major towns including Mogadishu.
