15 people die in Twin Sucide explosions in Mahas district of Hiiraan region

Twin suicide explosions have occurred in Mahaas district of Hiiraan region on wednesday morning. At Least 15 people were reported dead and more injured in the attack which no group has yet claimed its responsibility.

The regional administration criticized the incident and described it as a barbaric attack, calling people to unite against Alshabab and join the liberation war against the group. They also sent emergency help to the victims of the attack whom some are receiving medical treatment in local hospitals.

However, Mahas district is among the volatile localities where the ongoing war against Alshabab is underway and the government recently claimed its control from Alshabab.
Images on the scene show severe property damage caused by the twin explosions. The witnesses added that most victims were from a single family.

The federal government stated that ensuring security and eliminating Alshabab from the country will be its main agenda of this new year, 2023 and aim to accomplish it no matter how long it takes.
