

Hours after the surrender of Jubbaland’s security minister to the federal government of Somalia in the border town of Beled Hawo, amnesty international released a statement calling for the prosecution and justice for the victims of minister Janan.
Amnesty said in its statement Now that Abdirashid Janan is in the hands of the federal government of Somalia, authorities must ensure justice and accountability for all the alleged human rights violations he committed in Gedo region.
Victims and impacted families deserve justice.
Abdirashid Janan was sacked as the minister of security affairs of Jubbaland by president Ahmed Madoobe was a fugitive after he escaped from a prison in Mogadishu last year. He was arrested for allegedly killing civilians in Gedo region according to a previous statements released by Somali police and amnesty international.
Janan surrendered to the federal government yesterday afternoon in Beled Hawo where senior government officials received him.
