A Federal Government Army officer was shot and killed last evening by men armed with pistols in a neighborhood in Wadajir district, Banadir region. Abdi Ibrahim Eid, a member of the Somali Police Force, was said to have been shot while he was leaving a mosque after evening prayers.
According to eyewitnesses, the assailants who shot the officer immediately fled the scene after the shooting, leaving him bleeding profusely from his injuries. Well-wishers rushed him to the hospital, but he succumbed shortly thereafter.
Police arrived at the scene of the shooting and conducted an operation to search for the individuals responsible for the death of the late Abdi Ibrahim. However, no one was detained for the crime.
Assassinations in the city of Mogadishu have increased in the last few days, with the most recent one being the killing of the Deputy Political Commissioner of Yaqshid District Administration in Banadir Region.
