

At least six children who were allegedly wounded in Kenya’s airstrike on Thursday, May 3rd, are currently recieving treatment at a hospital in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu. According to reports, two people including a mother and her child were among those killed in the airstrike on Thursday last week.
The airstrikes are alleged to have been conducted by Kenya Defence Forces. They landed on villages including Elcadde, Likooley, Laheley, Warburray, Burcaleen, Dhamase, Wargaduudo, Qulqul Shubaal, Balanbaal, Muudale, Abroone, Buursaar cows Qurun and Daru-Salaam in southern Somalia.
Somalia condemned the airstrike in a statement and cited the ‘indiscriminate airstrike in Gedo region, Jubaland State, on the 3rd of June, as the most recent example of Kenyan Defence Force (KDF) operations resulting in the death and maiming of civilians, including women and children.
The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) said it will investigate the incident reports of the airstrikes against civilians.
