The constitutional crisis between the President of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and the Prime minister of Somalia Mohamed Hussein Roble has revived after the Prime minister sacked the National intelligence Agency Chief Fahad Yasin after he declined to follow his directives regarding the case of the female agent.
The President of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has issued a statement stating that the Prime minister’s decision to fire the NISA boss was “unconstitutional” and asked Fahad Yasin to continue with his duties.
Fahad Yasin was appointed by the President, but analysts believe he can be suspended by the Prime minister who was transferred Security and election responsibilities by the Parliament and President Farmajo himself earlier this year.
The deadline given by the Prime minister to the National Intelligence Agency expires at 7:00 Pm local time on Monday. It is not the first time PM Roble has directly clashed with the President over his legal powers and duties.
In early August, the PM rebuffed a presidential decree issued by Farmajo that ordered all federal government officials to disengage from any agreements until a new government is seated. But , The PM ordered his cabinet to proceed with business as usual.
