Sheikh Sharif, a former president of Somalia said he will remain a potential candidate for the upcoming election after rumors of his plan to quit from the race were speculated. The former President denied reports indicating that he had officially quit the presidential bid.
He also ruled out an agreement reached by his clan elders to compromise with some of the candidates running for the presidency. Sheikh Sharif cautions against misinforming the public during these election days.
During his term in office he had initiated talks between Somalia and Somaliand to resolve their political disagreements. The national army forces also removed Alshabab from its strongholds including the capital.
He is now the Chairman of Himilo qaran party and is running for Presidency in next months. The federal electoral commission of Somalia schedulated the presidential election to take place in October.
