According to local reports, at least four Somali soldiers were confirmed dead after they were involved in a car accident which occured in Dhaygawaan village of Jowhar town. The number of wounded people was not publicly announced.
Witnesses said the driver’s high speed was the main reason for the accident after he lost control of the vehicle and eventually collapsed in a small water channel known as Kili. The soldiers who died in the car accident were identified as one of the bodyguards of the regional Minister of Finance for Hirshabelle state.
The majority of road traffic accidents in Somalia are caused by drivers for over speeding, distracted driving, overtaking and sometimes driving under the influence of consuming drugs.
