The Speaker of Hirshabelle state of Somalia urged the locals to take the weapons and join the fight against Alshabab. He also held a meeting with the security agencies to chart new military strategies to liberate their territory.
Somalia’s Hirshabelle state officials noted their commitment to speed up and their locals to take arms to join the ongoing war on Al Shabab in the state. The regional speaker of Parliament Abdihakim Luqman invited security agencies and regional lawmakers to set new strategies towards the war against Alshabab.
He called upon the national army to level up the fight against the group while pointing his finger at the western of Beledweyne. Luqman directed the army to start the operations anytime soon to eradicate Alshabab from the Hirshabelle state.
The Speaker said he had similar conversations with the federal government and agreed on the current significance to remove Alshabab, affirming to the public that the federal forces will join the war immediately.
He urged the locals to take the weapons and join what he called the “Liberation” war against Alshabab while expressing optimism that the fight will end up with positive results.
In the last months, there have been military operations underway against Alshabab in some parts of Somalia and the army claimed to have captured strategic villages from the group.
