Ahmed Madobe, the Jubaland state of Somalia’s leader, has blamed the country’s president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo for the failure of the Dhuusamareeb consultative meeting.
In his remarks during a press briefing, the Jubland leader expounded that President Farmajo wants to conduct a unilateral electoral process in Gedo region which is under the Jubaland state of Somalia. He emphasized that president Farmajo can not be trusted in the country.
His statement comes just hours after the federal government of Somalia announced that Dhuusamareeb consultative meeting failed to bear fruit.
On Friday night, the federal government of Somalia declared that they failed to reach an agreement with the federal member states over elections while pointing a finger at the Jubaland leader. Information Minister Osman Dube, who has a penchant for press conferences said that Madobe was responsible for the failure of the talks.
For the past year, there have been political disagreements between the federal government of Somalia and the federal member state on issues concerning the Gedo region, Electoral committee and the election date.
Somalia’s president term and government will end on 8th February which is just 2 days to go and the country’s political stakeholders have not yet reached a long lasting solution over the upcoming general elections.
