

Kenya has been nominated as the African candidate for UN Security Council seat after defeating Djibouti in the second round of voting at the African Union headquarters in Addis Ababa.
A committee of envoys representing member states of the AU headquarters, officially known as the Permanent Representatives Committee (PRC) made the decision in a secret ballot.
Kenya received 37 votes while Djibouti had 13 votes for a seat at the UN Security Council from 2021-2022.
Kenya will now contest at the United Nations for a one-year non-permanent seat in elections slated for next year June.
