Kenya condemns DRC church attack, urges collective efforts to eliminate terrorism

Kenya’s President William Ruto has condemned the bomb attack on a church in North Kivu in Democratic Republic of Congo that left at least 10 people dead on Sunday. A Kenyan suspected to be a member of the ADF was arrested in connection with the attack.

President Ruto has called for collective action against terrorism which he said is a threat to international peace and security.
He strongly condemned the heinous crime and commended the DRC forces for their swift action that led to the arrest of suspected terrorists . Ruto also condoled with the people of DRC and wished the injured a quick recovery.

The President pointed out that the attack was a reminder of the ever-present terrorist threat. He further said it emphasized the need to strengthen the nations’, individual and collective resolve to deal with the threat to international peace and security.

The Congolese military blamed the attack where 10 people died and 39 others were injured on the Allied Democratic Forces. Reports said that later on Sunday, the ISIL group claimed responsibility for the attack.
