Kenya’s president William Ruto on Tuesday held a meeting with a delegation from Germany and United States of America that flew into the country to witness his swearing in ceremony as Kenya’s 5th president. Ruto said that former German President Christian Wulff during the meeting presented Germany’s goodwill message to Kenya.
He also noted that Kenya and Germany were scaling up ties to advance Kenya’s sustainable economic growth agenda.
“We are scaling up ties with Germany in the areas of technical training for our youth, renewable energy and agriculture in appreciation of their centrality in Kenya’s sustainable economic growth agenda,” he said.
The Head of State also acknowledged US Trade Representative Katherine Tai who was the delegation head at his new residence, State House.
The newly sworn-in President noted that Kenya and the USA share a long history of a social and economic partnership in diverse areas such as health, trade and security.
In addition, he also said that the two nations share a common belief in building prosperity for “our people from the bottom and we hope this can provide a platform for an even stronger partnership in the days ahead.”
The U.S. Ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman on her part thanked President Ruto for meeting the US delegation and said she looked forward to working with his administration to advance the Kenya-US partnership.
