Kenya records 366 new cases of Covid-19 and 18 deaths

Kenya has recorded 366 new COVID-19 cases from a sample size of 3,664 tested in the last 24 hours, marking a positivity rate of 105. This now brings the total cumulative cases to 151,653.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Ministry of Health also announced that 18 deaths have been reported which now pushes the country’s cumulative fatalities to 2,481.

The 366 new cases are distributed across the country as follows: Nairobi 177, Uasin Gishu 24, Kiambu 23, Kilifi 20, Nakuru 19, Kitui 19, Mombasa 12, Machakos 11, Busia 9, Murang’a and Kajiado 8 cases each, Kericho and Homa Bay 6 cases each, 1siolo 4, Bungoma, Trans Nzoia, Elgeyo Marakwet, Nyandarua and Kisii 2 cases each, Meru, Migori, Nandi, Narok, Nyamira, Nyen, Siaya, Vihiga, Embu and Kakamega 1 case each.

At the same time the Ministry also announced that 280 patients have recovered from the disease, 207 from Home Based and Isolation Care while 73 are from various heath facilities countrywide. The total recoveries now stand at 101,642.

According to the Ministry of Health,  a total of 1,620 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 5,832 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care. 254 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). 56 of whom are on ventilatory support and 155 on supplemental oxygen.
