Kenya’s Opposition leader Raila Oding while speaking on Tuesday at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation in Nairobi, said that the protests which begun on Monday will continue next week on Monday and Thursday.
He described the protests held yesterday in Nairobi and other parts of the country as “immensely successful”, insisting that he would not bow down until President William Ruto heeds to their demands.
Odinga says he will not relent until the Government addresses the issues that he believes concern Kenyans. He cited the cost of living, electoral justice, inclusivity in government, and the dismissal of civil servants.
In his speech, Mr. Odinga accused the police of causing the chaos and violence that was witnessed during the protests, which he says claimed the lives of two people and left several others injured.
He further claimed there was an attempt on his life and that of Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka by police who allegedly shot at their vehicles.
Raila also called on Kenyans to boycott services of Safaricom, KCB, and Radio Africa, alleging that the corporates had become facilitators of what he termed a ‘brutal regime’.
