According to the Galmudug State Minister of Presidency, Omar Shido, the recent talks to reconcile and negotiate Somali president Mohammed abdullahi farmaajo and his PM Hussein Roble have failed. The Minister made the announcement early on Friday morning through his facebook page.
The post read that ” the President of Galmudug State, Ahmed Abdi Kariye (Qoorqoor), had been working on resolving the Ikraan Tahliil case, which has been the cause of a great deal of controversy between President Farmajo and Prime Minister Roble, however The efforts of the President of Galmudug have ended in failure.”
There was no mention of exactly what had led to the meeting’s failure, only just that the Prime Minister’s team had shown maturity in the talks.
Mr Shido added that the Galmudug state has not abandoned its role in mediating the talks, going further to state that “Galmudug stands for resolving any disputes that hinder development, elections and security.
Galmudug President Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qoorqoor, South West President Abdiaziz Laftagreen and Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Mursal have recently been working to end the dispute between the country’s two most powerful men.
President Farmajo and Prime Minister Roble remain at loggerheads as the international community call for an immediate resolution to the political standoff that risks derailing the federal electoral process.
