The Mayor of Mogadishu and Banadir Governor, Yusuf Hussein Jim’ale Madale has defended his act of bashing young men and women with stick on Liido beach in Mogadishu.
The mayor said that the young individuals were using drugs and participating in immoral conduct and this incident has occurred amidst a growing drug abuse problem and the emergence of youth gangs in the city.
Defending his act and distancing himself from any wrongdoing, Madaale emphasized his responsibility to protect the morality of Mogadishu’s youth. He said he has the obligation to safeguard the strong Somali culture and will not tolerate actions that undermine the dignity of their people as well as the good morals.
