At least seven mortar rounds landed at Halane compound which is part of Mogadishu’s Aden Adde airport.
The camp hosts the African union peacekeeping forces and several diplomatic missions including the United States and the United Kingdom.
The leaders of the federal government and federal member states were to meet in Afisiyoni, a former air force base near Mogadishu airport where the attack happened today.
Al Shabab has claimed the responsibility for this attack saying it has disrupted a meeting on elections that is sponsored by the United Nations.
