The Kenya Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has rescued a Nairobi based businesswoman, Hafsa Mohamed, who was reportedly kidnapped on June 15.
The 23-year-old woman was discovered alive inside a water tank at a shack in Kayole’s Matopeni area, according to a police report obtained by kenya media on Sunday.
According to the detectives, the woman was kidnapped at her clothes stall by a criminal gang who demanded a Ksh. 5 million ransom to release her.
Hafsa, who appeared tortured in a heartbreaking video clip recorded by her kidnappers after her disappearance, begged her family to meet the demands of her tormentors in order for her life to be spared.
The woman, who was visibly shaken and had visible bruises on her face and hands, was rushed to the hospital for medical attention shortly after her rescue.
A 24-year-old suspect from the kidnap gang has been apprehended and is now assisting police with the investigation.
