Police in Somalia have seized illicit alcohol in Beledweyne.The bottles of alcohol were repotedly sealed with cello tape.
The regional authorities confirmed that over 50 bottles of the alcohol were seized which were imported in Beledweyne town of Hiiraan region.
The Police in the region have affirmed they arrested a number of suspects who will be arraigned in court after the conclusion of the probe into their cases.
According to the police commissioners, the forces were acting on tip off by the public in one of the town’s suburbs.
Alcohol consumption is unlawful in Somalia; there are strict measures against alcohol consumers and sellers.
Most of the alcohols used by locals is sold in black markets.Those who are found using, selling or distributing all kinds of alcohol and other drugs are arrested for long term jail and the alcohol is burnt down or destroyed.
