The President of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has invited all the federal member states and Benadir region to attend a consultative meeting on 22 March amid resolving electoral disagreements.
The President stated that this meeting will last two days and will be discussed implementing and reviewing the recommendations issued by the National technical committee on elections. This came days after Jubland, Puntland and Opposition Presidential candidates formed a National Salvation council. Though the President declined to include his invitation the Opposition candidates.
Last month, the official time in the office of President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has come to an end without a successor in place or political agreement and the opposition declared the government illegitimate.
The country’s political stakeholders have not yet also reached a political deadlock while the international community is pressing the government to hold elections immediately without further delays.
