

The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, HE Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, who is on a working visit to the Democratic Republic of Congo, met with his counterpart, HE Felix Tshisekedi.
President Farmajo shared with his counterpart in the Democratic Republic of Congo the achievements of the Federal Government of Somalia in stabilizing the country, rebuilding security institutions, boosting the economy, the debt forgiveness process, fighting terrorism and strengthening democracy.
“Somalia and the Democratic Republic of Congo face similar challenges and we must work together to ensure the development of our people. These challenges include extremism, poverty, youth unemployment and terrorism that have hampered the progress of our countries. ” said Farmajo.
On his part, the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, HE Felix Tshisekedi, who is also President of the African Union, thanked President Farmajo for accepting the invitation, and commended the significant achievements of the Somali people and government.
The two Presidents, who met in the African Union Area of Kinshasa, reaffirmed the importance of the two countries’ co-operation based on co-operation in the interests of the two nations and the need to enhance relations between African countries.
President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo thanked the President and the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo for the warm welcome he and his delegation received, and indicated that the Federal Government of Somalia supports President Tshiskedi in his role in leading the African Union.
The President’s delegation includes FGS Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Abdirizak Mohamud, Minister of Petroleum and Minerals Eng. Abdirashid Mohamed Ahmed, Diplomats and Advisers to the National Presidency.
