In a televised speech, the President of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo welcomed the election agreement by prime minister Moamed Hussein Rooble and federal member state leaders. He said it was a “pleasant result” that secures completion of the election.
In a reconciliatory tone, Farmajo said the country doesn’t need hostility and did not mention the political rift with his Prime minister. The President reiterated that the National Consultative Council is responsible for implementing the election, and has urged them to follow through the new election schedule.
He said he hopes the election will conclude in a peaceful atmosphere. The members of the national consultative council meeting agreed on expediting the election process and to end it within 60 days.
However the public still questions the possibility of finishing the election on its scheduled time without further delays.
