President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud who has been in Baido, the administrative city of the Southwest state for several days held a meeting with some of the traditional elders regarding the ongoing reconciliation efforts of the state.
Villa Somalia said the President asked the local elders to accelerate the mediation efforts by taking advantage of their key role in the community. The statement furthermore said, Hassan Sheikh believes that elders have an influential role in relation to the Somali conflict solutions.
Meanwhile, the local elders were also reported to have shared with the President all recommendations that they see as a solution to the current political tension in the Southwest state as well as the planning of the second phase of anti Alshabab war in the region.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the reconciliation conference for the Southwest state, President Hassan Sheikh noted that regional political stakeholders should not seek a third party to help them with resolving their political disagreements.
