

Puntland and Jubaland state leaders met with Former Somalia President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed who is currently running for Presidency and the Chairman of the Council of Presidential Candidates.
According to Puntland officials, they discussed the political situation in the country, the possibilities to hold peaceful and inclusive elections and to resolve the stalemate over the elections.
The meeting took place at the Halane compound where two state leaders are staying ahead of the sixth round of electoral talks where other state leaders are also expected to attend the electoral talks which will take place very soon in Mogadishu.
For the past years, there has been political disagreements between the federal government, some of the Federal Member States and the Opposition Presidential candidate over the electoral process.
The term office of the current president ended last month but, the Political stakeholders have not yet reached a political deadlock.
