Somalia’s Puntland state authority has opposed the calls made by the regional traditional elders. The administration described the statement made by the traditional elders as “ Misfortune” and difficult to accept it.
Puntland authorities believe handing over military equipment to the former Director of Puntland Security forces ( PSF) can be a security threat to the region. In the meantime, the authority ordered the former PSF Director to follow the regional authorities’ directives and must hand over the asset to his successor.
On Tuesday, Traditional elders in the semi-autonomous state of Puntland have called on the leaders to end the stand-off between Puntland State government troops and Puntland Security Forces.
The traditional elders issued a four-point resolution which they said was a solution to the conflict series of meetings. The PSF forces, which consists of more than 3,000 troops and are designed to counter the threat posed by ISIS and Al-Shabaab, left their positions in mountains and set up camps in Bosaso in reaction to Deni’s decree.
Since then, the situation in Bosaso has grown even more tense as Said Deni has deployed a large number for an end to the dispute over the dismissal of the PSF director.
