Puntland and Jubaland states of Somalia have finally submitted the names of their representatives to the federal elections committee which is a major breakthrough to resolve the current political crisis in Somalia.
The commissions appointed by the two administrations will consist of eight members each, and will be joined by three members each appointed by the Federal Government. This appointment is part of efforts to facilitate the election process and bring together the political stakeholder before the election date.
These two states had previously rejected to submit their representatives to the federal elections committee alleging the federal government of appointing members of the Somalia National Security agency to the electoral commission.
For the past months, there have been political disagreements between the federal government and its member states on issues concerning the electoral members, the Gedo region and the election date.
