The Vice President of Somalia’s Puntland state Ahmed Elmi Karaash travelled to Saah Maygaag where inter clan conflicts erupted recently. He aims to be part of the efforts of de-escalating the tension and the situation to turn back to normalcy.
The Puntland administration says it is time for the two sides to stop fighting which claimed more than 20 lives. The vice President said he has no plans to go back to office unless he finds a lasting solution to the problem.
The conflict between the two clans is based on a dispute over the settlement of Saah-Maygaag and Sange-jebiye, two settlements between Birta village in Garowe and Bocame district. On Monday, Somaliland also sent a similar message to the locals.
The Interior minister said that Somaliland and Somalia’s Puntland agreed to work on how to de-escalate the tension in which the two warring clans are inhabitants on both sides.
