At least five Puntland Marine Police Force officers were killed, while others were injured in a twine roadside blats in the mountains of Bari region.
The roadside explosions targeted two army vehicles carrying officers in the Sugure area near Galgala village, which is 40km southwest of Bosaso town.
According to sources, the injured soldiers were taken to Bosaso town for treatment.
The attack is believed to have been carried out by Al-Shabaab, which has secret bases in the Galgala Mountains. The group has previously carried out similar attacks in the mountains of the Bari region.
Government officials did not comment on the incident.
Puntland’s commander of Darawish forces has been in the Bari region’s mountains for the last few days to inspect the government forces stationed in the region.
