The King Salman Humanitarian Aid Center in Saudi Arabia has launched the second phase of emergency aid to Somalia to reduce the effects of the drought. The Kingdom has said that it will provide about $13 million to support the people in need of humanitarian assistance and to continue its role in preventing famine in Somalia.
A statement from King Salman’s office, read that “based on the directives of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support the needy people of brotherly and friendly countries, we launched the second phase of emergency aid to help meet the humanitarian needs of the people affected by the drought in Somalia.
The first phase of Saudi support, valued at 7.18 million, helped deal with the famine and its effects.
