Clashes have reportedly erupted between two tribal militias in Labagalle village under Aabudwaq district in Galgaduud region, leading to deaths and injuries of several people. A conflict over local land mining led to the fierce fighting that left at least five people dead and more than ten others injured.
Witnesses said the injured were rushed to the hospitals in Abudwaq and Adado districts for treatment. A land dispute in central Somalia’s Galgadud region under Galmudug is not a peculiar occurrence. In February, a two-day inter-clan fighting over land led to the deaths of nearly 30 people and injuries to dozens more.
The land disputes remains one of the main reasons that incites inter-clan conflicts in Somalia, leaving scores of death. On several occasions, the regional administration and the federal government pledged to minimize these recurrent conflicts.
