Somali National Army Forces and the south-west army forces together have recaptured the control of the military base in Daynounay which is about 18 km to the east of Baidoa region.
The government did not report any casualties in the recapturing process on both parties, and witnesses confirm that al-Shabaab left the base in the morning.
The deputy commissioner of security in the Bay region Isaak Mahamed told the media that they liberated the base, saying that they are doing additional military operations to liberate al-shabab from across the region.
It was last month when the government forces left the military base after it was taken over by al-shabab following an intense fight in which a police soldier was killed and some al-shabab members.
