A Somali female MP Amina Abdi was killed in a sucide bomb attack in Beledweyne town where she was to campaign for her relection. At Least 14 people also died in the attack and dozens others were injured.
Initial reports say the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber wearing a vest inside Lamagalaay camp. Alshabab immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
Aamina was known for her campaigning towards finding the missing intelligence agent Ikran Tahlil and was an outspoken MP.
Somalia President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo and Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble have condemned the attack and expressed condolences to the families of those killed.
Prime Minister Roble has ordered a thorough investigation into the killing of the MPs, adding that lawmaker Amina was an example of representing the people and pursuing justice while serving her people and country to the best of her ability.
